Change is something that is inevitable and has to happen as situations change. I mean imagine if the world didn't change from the 15th century? Do you think it would be a good thing or bad.
Too much advancement I think can be very destructive say in cases like weapons of mass destruction. However advancement in medicine is beneficial to the whole world.
Changes have a good side and a ugly side as well. I think it all comes down to the perception of individuals and how they think that change will affect their lives and livelihoods.
Lets take aids under the limelight from when it started. It was a disease connected with Homosexuality without concrete evidence. Which made accessing health system difficult for those who thought or knew they had the virus. Doctors were even terrified to treat patients at the early stages. But some people changed that way of thinking and now aids is a lethal but manageable virus. Seeking medical assistance is easier and now people understand it can be contracted in different ways that may not be connected to homosexuality. Also a change in the mindset brought about drugs that help maintain the exponential growth of the virus and trying to increase the lifeline of those who have the disease.
However If ones personal values are challenged by others change it can sometimes lead to a lot of negative reactions.
Currently all over the world Homophobia is spread like wild fire. The people who feel that a change in law to give more rights to the gay community challenges their cultural values then they get protective. Hate starts to grow and later starts to burn everything around it. Corrective rape, gay bashing and even criminal convictions by the state is still evident everywhere.
I think change and if any boundaries that should be with it is decided by the individual and sometimes the family. Before one decides to change the world either for good or bad the change needs to start from their own home. But realistically speaking this is usually very hard to do. It's easier to try and change others because you don't have a connection as strong as family with them and their conflicting views don't matter as much as it would with family.
I personally think positive change that promotes harmony is vital for the survival of human kind.
